The Lions suffered a tough 19-15 loss in the OUA quarter-finals against the Brock Badgers, an opponent who has spent the season playing in the top-tier Shiels division.

The Lions got off on the right foot, with Michela Stratton scoring a try for the only points of the first half. Though it was only a narrow 5-0 lead, the match looked as though it was showing the same promising performance the Lions had demonstrated all season.

The Badgers barrelled into the second half, scoring two tries and making two conversions in the opening minutes to lead 14-5. The Lions tried to bounce back, with Faith Williams making a try and Natasha Naismith making the conversion to close the gap 14-12. Despite their best efforts, the Badgers were able to add another try and confine the Lions to a single point penalty goal by Naismith to close out the match 19-15.

The Lions will continue to play, taking on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, October 11 at 7 p.m. on the Varsity Blues’ home turf.
