Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) recently announced 20 student athletes chosen to represent Canada at the 26th Summer Universiade. The event takes place in August in Shenzhen, China, where they will compete for gold.
Pena received York’s male athlete of the year award in March for his performance throughout the season. He scored two goals in three Ontario University Athletics (OUA) playoff games and has led all players in CIS with 13 goals scored in 16 regular season games.
With a total of 16 countries entering the tournament, Canada will compete in the preliminary round in pool D against Great Britain, Ghana, and Japan, bronze medallist at the last competition.
