Paparazzi
Celebrities need to be constantly in the news and on the cover of magazines to survive, but at the same time they don’t want some aspects of their lives to be revealed. In this picture I wanted to show that the celebrity doesn’t want the photographer to take the picture of her dark side, which might be her secrets, private life or something personal. She does, however, face the cameras in front of her to show the side that she wants to be shown, her brighter side. I put the paparazzi in the background in dark clothes to create this feeling of intimidation.

Lost Love
I wanted to take a picture of this beach, but I saw that girl standing in that cement frame on the top left corner of the picture and there was another guy in front of her taking her photo while she was doing different poses. I was waiting for her to finish taking photos so she would leave. It took them 10 minutes to take different pictures. Then the guy got tired and left, but the girl remained in that cement frame! I was so angry that she chose not to leave, so I decided to take the picture figuring I’d removed her from the photo later. After I had taken the image I found that having her in the picture makes it somewhat surreal. The picture tells a story like this: A girl is missing at sea, so her lover is leaving the calm pond in his boat to go after her in the stormy sea while in his mind he is hoping to find her. In a more general sense: in order to follow your heart, you have to deal with all of the adventures of it.

Celebration
I took this picture when Spain won the FIFA World Cup 2010 championship. I wanted to show the whole crowd, but not by using a wide or fisheye lens. I wanted the picture to not just show the people, but also the music and the ambiance of the celebration, so I filled my entire frame with the instrument and let the crowd show on the surface of the sousaphone. What comes to the viewer’s mind by when they see this image is, first, the music, and, second, that the entire crowd is wearing the colours of the Spanish jerseys, and they see the Spanish flag. This, as a whole, was how I wanted to tell the story.

Amazing photos!
The last shot in particular is absolutely brilliant. The crowd’s round reflection on the tuba depicts the union of all Spanish fans on that day, and the blue sky in the middle represents people’s hope for the future of Spain.
The deserted boat is all colorful in the middle of nowhere, and it’s a surreal mixture of trouble, optimism, effort, and a start of something great; like the path a brave man is starting to take to overcome the miseries of his life. But he never loses hope in this journey (the colorfulness of the boat), and he is making tremendous effort having no one to help him, but his faith… Someone is standing behind him, observing, yet refusing to help; maybe another desperate person, just wishing he was as courageous. He does not stand on his way, and only envies, lost in his own despair.
The first photo gives me the sense of a man who is naively in love, shy, and willingly to give anything to win her heart, headless of the dangers facing his heart, for she only pretends to be in love with him, and is indeed a greedy, self-centered, and ignorant soul..
(K1 is the best photographer ;p )
