Almost two weeks have passed since students discovered a York University teaching assistant’s Facebook comments directed toward her tutorial students, but York officials are working to make students feel comfortable again.
The TA in question, Bianca Baggiarini, has apologized to her tutorial group. Professor Carmela Murdocca of the sociology department was present for the apology, and assured the students Baggiarini has been a trustworthy TA, and students should not worry about her teaching or marking abilities.
Nevertheless, some students are nervous this will affect their final exams.
“Most students are having a difficult time dealing with this situation and are experiencing mixed feelings,” said a student from Baggiarini’s tutorial who wished to remain anonymous.
Sociology department chair Nancy Mandell had no further comments on the matter.
