York University radio station CHRY apologized twice Nov. 28 for allowing a mother to voice on-air accusations against Africentric Alternative School principal Thando Hyman-Aman, according to the Toronto Star.
The mother complained Hyman-Aman physically mistreated her son on the CHRY program “Cutting Edge.”
The subsequent Toronto District School Board investigation, which put the administrator on home leave, found the accusations to be “unfounded.”
The school board threatened to sue the station if no apology was given for not muting the highly charged comments using their time-delay switch.
Director of Education Chris Spence sent out a letter to the school’s students explaining the investigations findings and complimenting the educator on her leadership.
