Alexa (she/they) is a fourth-year Digital Media major with longstanding interests in animation, comics, and filmmaking. On the off chance that she isn’t drawing, you’ll find her cooking, eating, or otherwise dreaming about food. Some of her goals include making a Google Doodle (if the company stops being evil), illustrating for The New Yorker, and visiting Antarctica.

Nilesh (he/him) is a second-year Con-Ed student in Educational Studies. He loves all things Spider-Man. When he’s not playing his favorite video games, he enjoys creative writing. When the weather is right, he loves to ride his motorcycle. When the weather is not right, he prefers to work out and help his friends with anything that needs to be fixed. He loves to talk about, watch, and play basketball, staying loyal to the Toronto Raptors. Some of his goals include writing a book, benching 225 pounds, and figuring out how to bake. He is passionate about justice and fighting for anyone treated poorly.

Mia (she/her) is in her third year of pursuing a BA in English Literature with a minor in Philosophy. Her top areas of interest include classical Gothic literature, poetry, and literary theory. Passionate about grammar, literature, and the intricacies of language, Mia is fascinated by how words work and the meanings they carry. She previously ran an independent poetry section, which continues to thrive even after her departure. When she is not working or debating a dead author’s literary intent, Mia can probably be found browsing Doug Miller Books or eating Korean food.

OPINION SUBMISSIONS

Letters to the Editor:

Excalibur welcomes all opinion submissions. Letters to the editor and other opinion pieces, such as community editorials, will be published in print pending space, but will be published online. The only restrictions are on material deemed libelous or hate speech that violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (as noted in our policies on procedures).

Your letter should be no longer than 300 words and it should outline your name, your major and your year of study (if you are a York student), and which article you are writing in regards to.

Op-Eds:

Excalibur also accepts opinion pieces written by non-editorial board members, i.e. members of the York community. An op-ed is typically 400-600 words in length, and includes the following components: the issue/topic being discussed, the author’s stance/opinion, and a call to action or resolution. The only restrictions are on material deemed libelous or hate speech that violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (as noted in our policies on procedures).

All opinions expressed in the opinions section are those of their authors and are not necessarily those of the Excalibur staff, editorial board, or Board of Publishers.
