Bethune College residence don Toby Stimpson has been charged for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography over the internet Nov. 24.
Chantal Joy, the assistant director of residence life at the Centre for Student Community and Leadership Development at York, released a notice to all Bethune students Nov. 25, notifying Bethune residents about Stimpson’s arrest.
The release informed students that Stimpson is no longer a don and does not have a key to the residence.
According to Toronto police, if convicted, Stimpson could face a minimum of one year in jail for making child pornography available over the Internet.
There is currently a publica- tion ban on material discussed at Stimpson’s bail hearing.
Stimpson is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 30.
